Preimplantation Genetic Testing for Aneuploidy (PGT-A)

Preimplantation Genetic Testing for Aneuploidy (PGT-A)

PGT-A, formerly known as PGS, is a genetic screening test performed on embryos before implantation. Using Next Generation Sequencing (NGS), the current global standard for chromosomal analysis, PGT-A evaluates all 23 pairs of chromosomes to detect abnormalities such as Down syndrome. This helps reduce the risk of miscarriage and improves the chances of a healthy pregnancy. PGT-A is suitable for couples undergoing IVF/ICSI and is recommended for:

  • ✦Women over 35 years old
  • ✦Women with a history of miscarriage
  • ✦Men and/or women who have been found to carry chromosomal abnormalities
  • ✦Couples who have experienced previous unsuccessful IVF cycles

For couples undergoing IVF, PGT-A is recommended to ensure only chromosomally healthy embryos are transferred to the uterus. Following a successful transfer, a Qualifi NIPT (Non-Invasive Prenatal Test) is advised after 10 weeks of pregnancy to monitor the baby’s chromosomal health throughout gestation.
